Buttermilk Waffles


Waffles made with extra buttermilk, nice with various toppings.

  • 1 1/4 cups cake flour, sifted
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 16 tbsp butter
  • Strawberries for topping (Optional)
  • Cream for topping (Optional)


  1. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Beat eggs and buttermilk until well mixed.
  3. Add to flour mixture and beat lightly with a fork until flour is moistened.
  4. Stir in the butter.
  5. The batter should be lumpy. (Over mixing will produce tough waffles)
  6. Bake until golden brown and serve warm.
  7. Use any toppings you like
